Ethical Standards
Ethical Standards for Authors and Reviewers. PANYONARA’s editorial responsibilities
- To act in an unbiased, fair and equitable manner in carrying out their duties without discrimination on the basis of gender, sexual orientation, religious or political beliefs, ethnic or geographical origin of the authors.
- To address the same issue of sponsored supplements and special issues as other submissions so that articles are considered and accepted only on their academic merit and without commercial influence.
- To make reasonable steps to address complaints of the ethical or conflict nature as per the publisher’s policy and procedure. Any complaints should be looked at in order to make an informed decision. The documentation of any such complaints should be kept.
Author’s ethical responsibilities
- As well as to keep accurate records of the data of their submitted manuscript, and to provide access to the data, on the reasonable request of their employer, funding body and others who may have an interest, to deposit data in a suitable repository or storage place, and to share with others.
- To confirm/assert that the submitted manuscript is not under consideration or accepted for publication elsewhere. If part of their content overlaps with published or submitted content, to acknowledge and cite those sources. Also, to provide the editor with a copy of any submitted manuscript which may contain overlapping or related content.
- To confirm that all the work in the submitted manuscript is original and to acknowledge and cite content reproduced from other sources. To obtain permission to reproduce any content from other sources. Authors should ensure that any studies involving human subjects follow national, local and institutional laws and requirements and that approval has been obtained and applied to where appropriate.
- Authors should obtain express permission from human subjects and respect their privacy. To declare any potential conflicts of interest (e.g. where the author has a competing interest (real or apparent) that could be considered or viewed as exerting an undue influence on his or her duties at any stage during the publication process).
- To report to the journal editor or publisher as soon as a serious error in their publication is recognized. To cooperate with the editor and publisher to publish an erratum, addendum, corrigendum notice, or retract the paper if this is necessary.
Reviewer’s ethical responsibilities
- To be involved in the decision-making process and to help to enhance the quality of the published paper by reviewing the manuscript objectively, in a timely manner.
- To protect the editor or author’s confidentiality. To not retain or copy the manuscript. In no way submit any part of a submitted manuscript into an AI application that can store the manuscript in the database.
- To inform the editor of any published or submitted material which is substantially similar to the material under review.
- To be aware of any potential conflicts of interest (financial, institutional, collaborative or other relationships between the reviewer and author) and to inform the editor if necessary of these and to withdraw their services for that manuscript.
Violations of such standards will be dealt with as per the publishing standards.
