Abstract

Book-writing programs in Islamic boarding schools represent a form of literacy development that extends beyond reading and writing activities by engaging students in producing works for publication. This study analyzes the management of book-writing programs for students at As Sukri Islamic Boarding School in Sumenep and Nurul Jadid Islamic Boarding School in Probolinggo. The study employed a qualitative descriptive approach with a multisite design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, nonparticipant observations, and documentation, and analyzed through data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing and verification. The findings identify four interrelated areas of program management: planning, organizing, implementation, and evaluation and publication. Planning involved establishing program managers, adapting activities to students’ educational levels, and providing reference resources. Organizing focused on task allocation and mentoring. Implementation provided opportunities for students to practice writing and produce works, while evaluation and publication expanded the use and reach of students’ works. Both schools demonstrated similar management patterns while adapting implementation to their respective institutional characteristics.
