This research stems from the need for Bahasa Indonesia bagi Penutur Asing (BIPA), which not only emphasizes linguistic aspects but also promotes cultural integration in a cross-cultural context, particularly in Europe. This study aims to analyze the integration of Indonesian linguistic and cultural aspects in the process of cross-cultural BIPA learning in Europe, as well as how the cultural elements of each learner contribute to their language skills outcomes. The research method employed is a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collection primarily conducted through online classroom observation and analysis of learners' language skills. The results show that there is integration of each learner's culture in the results of their language skills. In speaking and writing skills, learners not only use Indonesian vocabulary and language structures, but also adapt expressions, communication styles, and cultural values from their home countries to the Indonesian context. In reading and listening skills, learners are able to interpret cultural meanings in texts and audio, while comparing them with their own cultural experiences. Cultural integration in learning is a study that offers a new perspective on how intercultural competence can be systematically built through pedagogical designs that are sensitive to the socio-cultural context of learners, as well as providing practical implications for the development of BIPA learning that is more adaptive, inclusive, and effective in improving cross-cultural communication success.
Sahrul Romadhon, Bambang Yulianto, Mulyono Mulyono, Djodjok Soepardjo, Agusniar Dian Savitri Copyright (c) 2026 GHANCARAN: Jurnal Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://ejournal.uinmadura.ac.id/index.php/ghancaran/article/view/20558 Mon, 12 Jan 2026 08:29:10 +0700 Nilai Modernitas dan Tradisional dalam Cerpen Pilihan Kompas Edisi 2024: Kajian Sastra Pastoral Gifford https://ejournal.uinmadura.ac.id/index.php/ghancaran/article/view/17656
This study is motivated by environmental issues and ecological awareness in contemporary society, which are never-ending. This phenomenon raises concerns about declining interest in conventional literary works. However, amid these challenges, cyber literature (cybersastra) emerges as an adaptive form of literature in digital spaces, offering potential solutions to enhance literary literacy. This study aims to examine the role of cybersastra in improving literary literacy amid the increasingly dominant digital culture. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through questionnaires distributed to students, university students, and teachers active in digital environments. The instrument was disseminated via Google Forms and analyzed using thematic descriptive techniques, including frequency and percentage tabulation, followed by narrative interpretation to uncover patterns and meanings within the responses. The results reveal that instant culture has changed how people access and consume information, yet cybersastra has proven to be an appealing and accessible alternative form of literacy aligned with the digital habits of the current generation. Respondents acknowledged that cybersastra enhances reading interest and is relevant for educational purposes, provided it is accompanied by proper guidance. This study concludes that cybersastra not only broadens the concept of literacy but also offers an adaptive and meaningful approach to literary education in the digital era.
Lenie Nuraeni Pujayantie, Yeti Mulyati, S. Di sisi lain, pendekatan naratif seperti storynomics berpotensi menjembatani pemahaman lintas budaya, terutama hubungan budaya Indonesia dan Korea. This study aims to reveal the forms, patterns of occurrence, and functions of paronomasia in digital humor discourse on Instagram using an integrated syntagmatic approach. The focus is on how wordplay and language forms are used to convey humorous meaning while building social interaction among social media users. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method. The data consists of humorous posts on the Instagram account @Queteryo published during the period from January to March 2024. Data collection was carried out through documentation and purposive sampling techniques, then analyzed in terms of discourse by combining syntactic, semantic, and pragmatic studies to identify paronomasia patterns and their communicative functions. The results of the analysis show that paronomasia in digital humor most often appears in imperative and declarative sentence structures by utilizing similarities in sound and word form. Pragmatically, paronomasia functions as a means of conveying satire, persuasive appeals, and indirect criticism that can increase audience engagement. The uniqueness of this study lies in the application of an integrated syntagmatic framework that provides new insights into linguistic creativity, the strengthening of digital literacy, and communicative awareness, especially for the younger generation.
Herlin Triana, Vivi Indriyani, Zaiton Binti Zakarya Copyright (c) 2026 GHANCARAN: Jurnal Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://ejournal.uinmadura.ac.id/index.php/ghancaran/article/view/21198 Mon, 12 Jan 2026 11:07:00 +0700 Fostering Critical Thinking in Academic Writing through a Meta-Reflective Model: Integrating Self-Assessment and Inquiry-Based Learning https://ejournal.uinmadura.ac.id/index.php/ghancaran/article/view/22099
Academic writing in higher education requires students to demonstrate critical and reflective thinking skills. However, writing instruction rarely provides a systematic model that integrates metacognitive reflection into the writing process. This gap causes students to experience difficulties in linking self-reflection with the development of academic argumentation. This study aims to develop and examine the effectiveness of a meta-reflective writing model that integrates self-assessment and inquiry-based learning to enhance students’ critical thinking skills. The study employed a research and development (R&D) approach encompassing a preliminary study, model design, expert validation, limited trials, and effectiveness testing. The participants consisted of two expert validators and 20 students enrolled in a language education program. Validation results indicated that the model was highly feasible, with a mean score of 4.47. Findings from the limited trials demonstrated improvements in the quality of students’ written argumentation. Effectiveness testing using a one-group pretest–posttest design revealed a statistically significant increase in critical thinking scores from 22.1 to 44.4 (p < 0.001).These findings confirm that the meta-reflective writing model is effective, practical, and relevant as a pedagogical approach for strengthening critical thinking in academic writing, although further refinement of indicators at the pre-writing stage is still required.
Harsono Harsono, Laili Amalia, Henny Sanulita, Emas Malika Balqies Putri Aticqa, Affan Maulidi Rahmatullah Copyright (c) 2026 GHANCARAN: Jurnal Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://ejournal.uinmadura.ac.id/index.php/ghancaran/article/view/22099 Mon, 12 Jan 2026 10:23:16 +0700 Narrating Nawal El Saadawi's Thoughts in Women at Point Zero: Psychology of Women Perspective https://ejournal.uinmadura.ac.id/index.php/ghancaran/article/view/21357
This research aims to explore Nawal El Saadawi's thoughts on Women at Point Zero through psychology of women perspective which is integrated with psychoanalysis. The focus of this research refers to three things, especially in a psychological context, namely sex, crime, and death which refers to women. The research method used is qualitative-interpretive using fictional data sources. The research results show the following. Firstly, women are depicted as experiencing disclosure and sexual violence perpetrated by men (family, friends, security forces, boyfriends, pimps. The men initially communicated very well with the female character. However, in the end, they revealed sexual violence and even made Firdaus a prostitute. Second, the prostitute experiences sexual harassment and violence from her clients. Third, when a woman experiences sexual understanding, sexual violence, and making love, she takes action to resist. In this case, Firdaus kills the man who shackles her life. As a result, Firdaus received the death penalty. The death that appears in this fiction cannot be separated from the desire for death that appears in the human subconscious, whether the desire to kill other people or the desire to kill oneself. In the context of global literature, this research offers an alternative for understanding women concerning sex, crime, and death seen from a psychological perspective through literary documents.
Anas Ahmadi Copyright (c) 2026 GHANCARAN: Jurnal Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://ejournal.uinmadura.ac.id/index.php/ghancaran/article/view/21357 Mon, 12 Jan 2026 11:23:45 +0700 Dialogical Interaction in Indonesian Language Learning: An Ethnographic Study of Teacher Strategies and Student Engagement in a Junior High School in Lumajang https://ejournal.uinmadura.ac.id/index.php/ghancaran/article/view/21404
There has been research on learning interaction, there is still a gap in understanding how communication patterns, pedagogical strategies, and student responses in Indonesian language learning. This research used a classroom ethnography approach. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis at three state junior high schools (SMPN) in Lumajang. This research ensures data validity through triangulation of techniques and sources. This research analyzes data interactively with the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion making. The research findings show that there are four categories of interaction patterns in Indonesian language learning, namely task-oriented interaction, discussion-based interaction, evaluation-based interaction, and post-evaluation reflective interaction. Teachers' pedagogical strategies-such as building emotional closeness, utilizing learning technology, and applying differentiation and scaffolding-are proven to be able to increase students' involvement in the learning process. In addition, students showed positive responses to interactive activities, peer evaluation and learning reflection. This research aims to develop and examine the effectiveness of an integrative learning model based on the digitalization of Madurese oral literature to enhance students’ cultural literacy. The study employed a Research and Development (R&D) design adapting Borg and Gall’s model, which consists of six stages: preliminary study, model design, product development, limited trial, revision, and field testing. The participants were 120 high school students selected through purposive sampling based on digital readiness and institutional support for culturally based innovation. Data were collected through questionnaires, observations, interviews, and cultural literacy tests, using instruments validated by three experts in Indonesian language education, Madurese culture, and digital media. Quantitative data were analyzed using a paired-sample t-test, while qualitative data were analyzed thematically. The results showed a significant improvement in cultural literacy scores, from 52.5 to 85.25 (p < 0.05), representing a 32.75% increase. These findings confirm that the integrative digitalization model of Madurese oral literature is effective for upper secondary education as a contextual pedagogical strategy to strengthen cultural literacy in the digital era.
Moh. This study aims to analyze the linguistic and ideological structures that shape practices of verbal violence in digital interactions. Data were collected from July 2024 to January 2025 from various social media platforms, then analyzed using corpus linguistics to identify patterns of language use, as well as Fairclough's Critical Discourse Analysis to interpret the power relations that emerge in the texts. The results show that digital verbal violence is not merely an expression of individual emotion, but is connected to dominant ideologies such as patriarchy, toxic nationalism, and religious fanaticism. Violent speech contains both vertical and horizontal power relations, which allow users to assert symbolic authority, silence others, or negotiate certain identities. These findings confirm that verbal violence in digital spaces is not merely a matter of communication ethics, but part of the mechanism of power reproduction through linguistic practices. In conclusion, this study contributes to understanding how language in social media reproduces power and ideology in digital interactions. As a follow-up, future research may expand the data scope or examine counter-discursive strategies to challenge verbal violence online. The findings have implications for critical digital literacy by helping users recognize and resist ideological domination embedded in everyday social media discourse.
Imanuella Anastasia Brigitha Carneliaputri Dewanty, Djoko Saryono, Azizatus Zahro, Zainur Rijal Abdul Razak, Habibah Ismail Copyright (c) 2026 GHANCARAN: Jurnal Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://ejournal.uinmadura.ac.id/index.php/ghancaran/article/view/21949 Mon, 12 Jan 2026 12:20:56 +0700 Implementasi Strategi Pembelajaran Sastra Berbasis Literasi Ekologi di Pesantren Miftahul Ulum Sumenep https://ejournal.uinmadura.ac.id/index.php/ghancaran/article/view/21775
Ecological literacy in literature learning specifically studies the relationship between humans and the environment to support sustainable development through literary texts. The ethical heritage of Javanese literature offers a value framework that is relevant to this issue, one of which is the value of nobility as taught in Serat Wicara Keras. This article is the result of research that applies the hermeneutic method to reveal the teachings of the value of nobility in Serat Wicara Keras as the formal object of the study, with the phenomenon of political dynasties in Indonesia serving as the material object. Library research was employed as the data collection method, beginning with planning, data inventory, data analysis, and classification. The results of the study are as follows: (1) Serat Wicara Keras is a literary work written by Yasadhipura II within the context of Javanese feudal culture. The work reflects Yasadhipura II’s critical reflection on social conditions during the leadership of Pakubuwana IV as the successor of the Islamic Mataram dynasty. (2) The value of nobility in Serat Wicara Keras is referred to as awirya, which constitutes the principal value that must be realized in order to avoid bilai (calamity). According to Yasadhipura II, nobility is not grounded in lineage, but in how an individual undertakes spiritual and ethical discipline (lelaku) until achieving mental and spiritual readiness for attaining nobility. (3) The practice of political dynasties in Indonesia is rooted in a culture of patronage and political personalization found in the leadership of several political parties. Yasadhipura II views the occurrence of political dynasties as a natural phenomenon; however, such dynasties must maintain nobility by adhering to processes that conform to the established moral order and principles.
John Abraham Ziswan Suryosumunar Copyright (c) 2026 GHANCARAN: Jurnal Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://ejournal.uinmadura.ac.id/index.php/ghancaran/article/view/22165 Thu, 15 Jan 2026 08:35:17 +0700
